Art 1
These are my projects I have created in my Art 1 class.
Fall Painting
|
For this project, my whole class got a small canvas and we had to paint our interpretation of a season. I did fall and painted a road with falling leaves. We used different techniques to give the picture texture.
|
Fiber Art |
My art teacher gave us the option to choose between weaving and crotcheting. I chose to crotchet a small tapestry. I used red, white, and gray yarn. I used different size of lines across and triangles for my pattern. When I finished my tapestry, I didn't like how the sides are uneven. I tried to stretch them out, so they would even out, but it didn't end up even.

Think Outside The Box |
For this project we were given a small piece of paper that was cut out of a magazine. With the portion of the image shown, we had to create a picture without finishing the image. I added an abstract effect to the picture by using different size squares and rectangles that angle in different directions and move further back into the image so I would not finish the picture. I also added trees and a blue background to contrast from the neutral-colored mountains.

Self Portrait
|
For this project, I had to create a self portrait including symbols into my drawing to express who I am. I have six symbols in my project. I colored my shirt blue because that is my favorite color. In the background, I used the pattern of the PINK shopping bags because that is my favorite store. For four of the circles I used a different object to represent something about me. I used poms for one of the circles because I am a cheerleader. I put the number "five" in one of the circles because that is Bo's favorite number. I used a sun for one because my favorite season is summer. And for the last circle, I drew a paw print because I love animals.

Shrinking Shapes |
This project was to create Op Art. I had to include three different techniques to make this piece. I used three different shapes with a technique that pulls the shapes to the center, decreasing them in size. For the background, I used a gradient technique to give it a 3-d effect.

Furby
|
This project was to make an Alebrije, a type of Mexican folk art. I used clay to create a fantasy creature mixed of many animals. I chose to make my creature with an owl body, bat wings, cat tail, with bear feet and ears. I call him "Furby" because his face reminds me of the "Furby" toys for little kids.

Purple Elephant
This is my second abstract piece. For this project I was able to create a work of art with any suject and background I wanted. I chose to an elephant as the subject of my work, with a pattern filling the elephant and a messy, blended background to make the elephant stand out.
Abstract
The main idea for this project was to work on an abstract piece. To start off with, I was given a list of instructions to draw certain lines and shapes. Once I had completed the instructions, I could add to my piece. Using oil pastels, I was able to blend colors together and create value, while other lines were bold and defined in order to give the work an abstract look.
Giraffe
This was the first project I did in my Art 1 class; an intaglio printing. I glued different materials onto a small canvas to create a picture. When I had completed my, I painted ink onto the canvas, placed a paper underneath, and rolled it through a print press. The outcome of my print was disappointing. It did not turn out how I wanted to, but the picture I was still able to see the object of the piece, a giraffe.
